[9.2] Task 9: Network Assignment Using Golden Record Curation Quiz Data (Mandatory task)

In this reflection, I analyze a network visualization showing participants' music choices and explore what the data reveals—and conceals about our shared and divergent preferences. Using metrics such as node connectivity and density, I examine how seemingly neutral visualizations can reflect deeper social and cultural biases. Drawing on insights from Code.org (2017), Hammel & Yurshansky (2016), and Systems Innovation (2015), I examine how missing selections, such as Guan Pinghu's Liu Shui (Flowing Streams) and the Javanese gamelan Puspåwarnå, point to the influence of familiarity, exposure, and global hierarchies of culture. This reflection also connects these patterns to classroom learning, showing how understanding networks can help foster inclusion and curiosity in diverse learning communities.
